Per "Bolton Evening - Chris Gough reports" - paper courtesy of my sister who teaches in Bolton.
Workmen working on resurfacing a road - Deansgate, Bolton decided to leave their digger overnight to save time and inconvenience to shoppers. When they returned a few minutes before 8 am yesterday - they found the traffic warden had slapped a ticket on the digger.
The company - John Hopkins Ltd - intends to appeal as the digger was not parked up inconveniently and was on a road undergoing road works. Incidentally, because of leaving the digger in situ - the work was completed ahead of schedule and thus saved council tax payers some cash.
The council claim the contracotrs should have filled in the appropriate paperwork for a waiving of parking restrictions...
the road was being resurfaced - nothing could have driven or cycled or walked along it anyway :baghead:
