Chap in Notts had a 'run in' with the 'vultures' ! (T-W's)

Quote:
Obtained a new Car Parking Bluecard Scheme on the 2/6/05, on using it for the first time to a Appointment the same day, put the cards on the dash board new and up to date facing forward.

While attending my apointment for hard of hearing, the Reception Lady said a Parking Warden was sticking a Penalty ticket to my Screen, costing £60 Pounds whithin seconds, (he must have been hiding.) I asked him what was wrong with my new up to date Blue Card Scheme. he said it was not up to date, Well I could not find fault with it. he then said one of the cards was "upside down", what I found was the main Blue card was two sided and the side what he could see was the one with my Photo on and should have been the other side. there was no other Problem with the cards just that one (Very petty) And an expensive first fault.

He brought on a bad Asthma attack and I felt ill. the People who give you the Blue Card Scheme for Disabled are the same People who employ the Parking Wardens, the Council, and they have a Penalty number to get every day or are sacked. So the Council give you the cards and then give you a Penalty and take the disabled to the Cleaners !

What a wonderfull world we live in plus the council must think pensioners are made of money Vote Labour.

Good ending, he challenged the 'ticket', and the penalty was 'overturned' !

Another example of 'stand up' and 'be counted' !

Again, how many simply accept 'guilt' and 'pay up' ?

(Sorry, not, a speed related issue, but one which deserves being brought to attention ?)

I did in Southport.

Parked on a meter, and paid for 1 hour. Walked to Dixons - about 400 yards away, and bought some software and photo paper having browsed for about 15 minutes (it was busy, and the police had been called to a shoplifter :) ) then left the store, walked through the adjacent arcade back to my car - about 5 minutes max, and found it had been ticketed.
When I looked, the time on the ticket was wrong - it looked as though I had parked there at least 40 minutes before I did.
The Dixons store receipt indicated I was correct - it was dated 20 minutes after I thought I had parked.
I wrote to the department concerned with my story, and was told if I did'nt pay up immediately, the fine doubled!

Now when I go to Southport, it is to take my in-laws to Safeway, and as I drive through Southport, I drop the used parking ticket in the car park for them to clear up, along with anything else that I can ditch and do my best to discourage anyone I know from visiting. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - VULTURES THRIVE IN SOUTHPORT

My girlfriend and I are trying our best not to donate any cash to the parking enforcement section of a certain London council, after having been ticketed for being parked on a single yellow line at 7:30pm in a CPZ where the restricted hours ended at 8pm. Fair cop you might think, just pay up and stop trying to blag free parking out of the council...

...but if you haven't passed any signs to say you're entering a CPZ with these particular times of operation, how can you possibly be expected to know what the times are? Whilst there are some signs up marking the boundary of this zone, there are none visible to a driver following our route into the zone.

Oh, OK then, that's not entirely true. There is one that you could see quite clearly.

If you turned your head 90 degrees to the left.

Whilst driving straight ahead across a busy junction, trying to also keep a look out for other vehicles and the large number of pedestrians which hang around this particular junction just waiting for any chance to dash across the road regardless of whether or not the lights are in their favour.

Ah, but did I forget to mention that the times marked on this particular sign aren't even correct?

If that's what the council considers a sufficiently clear level of signage to allow enforcement of the parking restrictions, then I'd hate to see an example of what they'd consider unclear signage. We honestly believe the council is just trying it on by ticketing vehicles parked on these single yellows, hoping that most drivers will assume they must have just missed the signs and quietly pay up without a fuss, and we're having none of it.

.....i nearly got mobbed by taxi drivers for waiting in taxi rank marked 'taxis only 9am to 5pm' at 6:30pm.

i opened my window a crack and got ranted at, politely pointed out the sign i was parked under.. got more ranting and threats to call the police... which i said i would be happy for them to do

it wasn't clear if the rank should have defaulted to free for all outside of those hours or to the double yellow further up the road. either way i had as much right to be there as them.

I have a friend who lives overseas who seems to get a parking ticket whenever he visits me and I lend him the car.

He never pays them though....

A friend of mine parked in a two hour parking zone alongside a recreational area used for weekend sport and left it there for about 4 hours. Of course he got a ticket but he went to court because he felt it was unfair.

You see, he argued that the purpose of the restrictions was to ensure reasonable access to parking for all. Since there were no games scheduled on any of the playing fields that day and that 70-80% of the parking was unused for the entire day he argued that the restrictions were unnecessary and unreasonable in those circumstances.

He got off!
