Hmm. Can see point if he'd abandoned without lights - but the evidence per the report indicated he'd done all he could to ensure car could be seen and tried to get help asap.

Glad magistrate saw sense over it - but really CPS should have exercised more common sense under the circumstances.

The clue is in their name - the Crown Prosecution Service. Clearly it is their job to prosecute, not to exercise common sense!

Well what can you say? Shame on the police office, shame on his or her inspector. Shame one the CPS. What a waste of taxpayer money (council) sounds like the guy did every thing he could to make the situation safe. I hope the police officer that issued the ticket reads this and may be he or she should consider there future as a police officer, may be a job as a traffic warden might be moor appropriate.

The guy could have just 'coughed up' the 60 quid, AND accepted the three points, instead, he chose to challenge the cops decision....Good for Him !

How many more 'faultless victims' of over zealous cops are now lighter in their pockets - and have 'points' simply because they didn't dare stand up and fight ?

I hope there will be a lot more 'challengers' to the power mad enforcers of trivial offence prosecutions !

In this case, the cop was hoping that the man would simply 'shut up, pay up, and take it'....he was wrong !

On the other hand, IF the 'dangerously parked' vehicle had, caused, or been involved in, an accident, would the chap have been held responsible ?
