It was reported a week or so ago that avatar uploads were not working. I think I've fixed it now. It certainly works for me.

Anyone who had an error message might like to try again.

Yep, still broken, and still looking like the uploaded file cannot be copied to the target location (first reported line) by the id that php is running under, the later warning lines are irrelevant as they are triggered by trying to write http header information after the header was implicitly completed by the error message.

Avatars seem to have entirely disappeared today :(

Yeah. Sorry. I have no idea why. I'm investigating.

Mine disappeared, so I re-loaded it.

It seems that off-site linked avatars work, but the ones stored on site do not.

That explains our PM (I think - or maybe forum) exchange the other night, Paul - I could only see some Avatars. I still can only see some Avatars.

I've switched mine to an off-site link so, so it's reappeared. However, if I try to upload one, I get a similar error message to johnsher.

My Avatar has disappeared. When I try to do an upload of a local file I get the error messages in Johnsher's post above. Does anyone know what is up or how we fix it?

Still I see several nonexistent (ie red cross placeholder) avatars.

Avatar uploads still aren't working and I don't know why. The email exchange dried up without finding a solution, then I forget about it. Thanks for the reminder.

If you have any webspace you can still upload your avatar there and link to it, like wot I have done.

You normally get some from your ISP.

If anyone's desperate I can always host a titchy image for them :)

If people lack webspace, why not use a free image hosting site such as http://www.photobucket.com?
