PS: I don't believe that anyone can, hand on heart, say they never make a mistake when driving, no matter how experienced. After all, to err is human. Experience, however, does often help get us out of any situations that our errors may have created, although most are likely to be so minor, it is on...

I scored 78% (B), but then some of the questions warranted more than just a yes or no answer, which is where experience comes in, I believe, in that in many scenarios whether you stop, swerve, speed up, etc depends on a number of other factors at the time. Driving is not an exact science as what is ...

Can anything that makes money for the government and/or gives more control over the lives of individuals be safely implemented by any UK government, especially the current one?

So, if the government do decide to bring in speed limiters, will the police and the courts then stop prosecuting people who are apparently caught driving 1 or 2 mph over the limit, contest this on the basis that they were using cruise control set at 1 mph below the limit and are then done for not be...

Point proven, don't you think Anton? Both the Essex police and the Under Secretary of State for Transport Jim Fitzpatrick refuse to consider removing the camera at this time - they obviously still need the money! Let's face it, that is all we motorists are to councils and governments - mere cash cows!

What I really object to is these cyclist that dress like 'pros' ride 'pro' style bikes, but ride along the road 2, 3 or even 4 abreast and will not move into single file to allow traffic to pass. The motor car is, by definition designed to travel faster the bicycle and on single carriageway roads, p...

As a driver I find flashing lights are not particularly good for being seen, especially when there is a lot of traffic, it is dark and most vehicles have lights on! The impact then of flashing lights, front or rear, tend to be lost. Mind you, where I travel, it is just a novelty to see cyclists with...

I was interested to see the comments about Sat Nav's. My mother told me the other week that she was driver her and a friend and the friend had a Sat Nav which was saying that she was travelling at 77mph on the motorway when her speedo was reading 70mph. She drives a Toyota Corolla that is just over ...

This is the comment I left on topic titled BBC Radio Drive Time ..... If this is the consulation paper that is suggesting 6 points if you are deemed to be 'substantially over' the speed limit which could well mean a ban after 2 such incidents, then I think it is utterly crazy! Being 'substantially o...

Being 'substantially over' the speed limit, is surely hugely ambiguous and definitely relati...

Yet another method to 'steal' money from motorists and get a few more off the road! Average Speed Cameras have been mentioned as being on motorways, particularly around road works. I think we can all see the purpose of this when there are men working on the motorways, sometimes with not much more th...

In my view, whatever the rights and wrongs, how many more people are killed or seriously injured, like the family of 6 just the other week, because of queues caused by the police closing roads/lanes due to an earlier accident?

Do these further accidents warrant the closures? I don't think so.

Thanks Jomukuk Have looked at link and printed off the information to try and digest later. From a brief look through, it seems that repeater signs should be displayed as from the start of the 20mph to the mini roundabout is more than 400 metres; the road to the left at the mini roundabout is also m...

Hi Malcolm

These areas were previously 30 mph and have, since last Friday been amended. :x

I have a question. Most of our area has just been designated 20mph, but I am not sure that the signs are adequate. As I turn off my road onto the main road around our estate, there are 20mph signs, normal size. This road leads to a mini roundabout where I turn left. There are no further signs that I...

And what, assuming I heard on GMTV correctly, earlier this week, the 24,000 deaths each year in this country from the COLD? 8 times as many as on the thousands of miles of our roads - is this acceptable? I am not saying that any road deaths are acceptable, but they are a fact of life as is just as a...

My husband heard on the radio, the day Swindon announced the end of the cameras, that in fact it was the end of the Council paying to maintain the cameras, but that some other body, such as the Road Safety Partnership, or whatever, would be taking on that role, so they would still be active, just no...

Check this out - http://www.speedlimit.org.uk/twenty.html It is totally crazy. If they believe their own statement that road deaths have not reduced much since 2000, then that in itself should tell them that reducing speeds is not working and therefore is not the main factor in road deaths! I, and I...

Apparently in Hereford and Worcester speed cameras (all types, I presume) have reduced fatal accidents from 33 to 11 in Worcestershire and something like 10 to 3 in Herefordshire! I heard this on the car radio as I was pulling into work and my immediate response was 'bollocks'! The only thing that w...
