Octavia 2.0Tdi 140bhp 236ft/lb of torque M6 Toll which is usually 3 lanes of tranquility (comparatively speaking)... Indicated 85 M6 J10A to 6, speed varies between 45 and 80 according to traffic (0 to 5mph in rush hour)............. Although given a completely clear stretch of 3 lane motorway that ...

In my experience, I find the "age-extremes" of society (youngest & oldest) to be the worst culprits of disrespectful driving. Just today whilst driving back from South Wales on the A49, we were stuck behind an older person who - easily seen from our car - could hardly see in front of the steerin...

I must admit, where I live the chav scum in their chavved-up-chicken-chasers really do get on my :censored: tits. So - as I see it - speed humps are the best thing for them; every 10 yards as far as I am concerned! Do we really think they will race along risking damage to the £20 front air dam their...

   mosis aint the "full genetic package" is it?????? When will these driving puritans see that normal people exceed the posted speed limit due to the imposition of idiotic and poorly thought out speed limits? As in this case. From the overhead shot of the road in question, that - to m...

The more I think about this matter, the more my blood boils. How dare the authorities ply us with duff information and statistics in the pursuit of a) employing people whose wages are paid by us lot, in order to b) fleece even more of our hard-earned wedge with the lazy and fatuous claim "Speed Kill...

:bounce1:  :drink:

That is one tippy top press release Paul!

If there is one thing ministers and departments hate being called, it's "unfit for purpose".

One really cannot get one's head around the DfT!!!!!!! I am staggered at their bare faced cheek and affrontery, as what they are - effectively - saying is that the number of hospital admissions is over-inflated! Why would they over-inflate these figures? What purpose would that serve? I suppose it's...

Despite a previous postee failing for block-changing gears, all advanced driving practices whether IAM / RoADA / HPC etc etc actively encourage block-changing, and AD examiners will either mark down or fail a candidate for not doing so.

This is down through the box though, rather than up.

It's a good idea. I was tempted to have a sticker saying 'BACK OFF YOU STUPID MORON', but one of these is much nicer, and I wouldn't get involved in as much fighting! Good god, man! If you really do spoil for a fight every time another driver tailgates you, then you really do need to adapt and re-c...

"Wind-Surfing" An overtaking technique whereby one positions the car directly over the white line (on NSL roads) so that the offside and nearside wheels are either side of the central white line (or, indeed, further). This is done frequently when attempting an overtake for two reasons: 1. To indicat...

Actually, yeah.

Midweek.

But the A9 still seems "obliging" to multiple "wind-surfing" overtakes where safe to do so.

thanks to Safety1st on the Advanced Driving site for the "wind-surfing" term

Paul, The wife and I had three days off last week, and we booked ourselves in to a hotel in Nairn http:/www.swallowhotels.com/hotels/golf-view-hotel Obviously, we drove up there: M6 / M74 / A9. Well. The A9. What a road :D :D Wide open stretches that allow 2 - 3 car passes, sensational scenery, and ...

Personally, no I would not have performed an overtake in this case. AISI, overtakes should be well considered and pragmatic i.e. overtake where road conditions, oncoming traffic, vision, and road markings permit. Yet if the passing manoevre can be considered "churlish" (such as in this case, where a...

I had a little rant about that ad to the wife some time ago. Look at the "culprit" being targetted......... Suit. Briefcase. Audi A4 in silver. Nice respectable detached house. Does this strike you as the average "un-taxed" driver??????? No. Nor me. So, DVLA, stop insinuating that un-taxed drivers a...

I take on board ReWolf's point fully. The missus and I regularly drive around in a 41 year old car, although she (the MG  ) is more comfortable at 60mph in an overdrive 4th than at 40mph in actual 4th if you see what I mean.... But there are no excuses for drivers such as (experienced today on...

TSM, You are not the full genetic package are you? Do you drive? Are you aware of sub-optimal gaps? Are you aware of correct lines through a corner that afford maximum visibility? Are you aware of steering methods that afford maximum control at all times? Are you aware that I have no points on my li...
