Interestingly, this was in The Times and the Daily record today... also mentioned on Steve Wright's show on Radio 2.. http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/article3248132.ece http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/newsfeed/2008/01/25/speed-link-to-pollution-86908-20296907/ I feel a ...

I just found it really annoying because it's so blatantly just utter lies. Everything these days the government or local councils bring in that is grossly unpopular is just labelled as "saving the environment" Thats annoying enough, but when its actually the opposite of th truth, it really...

Just heard an advert on local radio by Fife Council trumpeting their speedbump-ridden 20mph zones It says the zones are there " to make it safer for children and to help the environment" Surely this is a blatant lie? Any research I've ever read says that humps cause pollution because cars ...

Piece in the Courier today about the increase in Taxi's in the Fife area failing the Hackney test this year, due to "mostly brake and suspension problems" Several local councillors, and the council themselves "hit out " at the taxi companies for slipping standards.. I felt this e...

Quite a few petitions on the number 10 site at the moment that you may wish to sign.. this is a new idea that only appeared last month. Already 136000 signatures against road pricing. I personally have signed against speed bumps and for a review of the limits on the motorway! http://petitions.pm.gov...

I disagree RE: LPG. Yes it is a fossil fuel, but it is a waste product.. it is a by product of petrol. At the moment supply far outweighs demand, so as a result you see refineries all over the country burning the stuff off ... total waste. Surely as many as possible should be encouraged to use this ...

I can't believe he's managed to fly the "green" flag with this latest round of duty increases. Surely if it's all about the environment he should be persuading people to switch to more environmentally friendly fuels? Nope - not our Gordon. He increased duty on biodiesel as well by 1.25p a ...

You can't blame them for damage, as they just come back with "you must have been SPEEDING over the bumps then." The local councillor's newsletter trumpeted the success of the bumps saying that since installation the average speed has reduced from 27mph to 18mph This would be fair comment, ...

Fife council at the moment are steamrollering their way through making every 30mph limit in the county a 20mph limit with speed bumps. The amount of the things is quite incredible, and I too hate them with a passion. The senseless implementation of 20mph limits absolutely everywhere drives me totally...

There's a very similar road near me... it's currently 30 (needlessly) and the council are just about to reduce it to 20, with speed bumps. It's hugely fashionable at the moment to lower limits here there and everywhere, with no just cause. I did put an objection i, but just got steamrollered as you ...

As the council are planning to install even more speed bumps around my village, I've been trying to put together my objection letter. To be honest, i feel I'm completely wasting my time. Looking back through previous installations, and the objections recieved, the bumps have been railroaded through ...

Couldn't get a shift swap... so wrote another letter. What do you think?? Hi Ian, Thanks for getting back to me. It's good to hear at least some local consultation is taking place, although scheduling it at 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon means that you will get a very one-sided response.. Most road us...

We have the ultra high zebra crossings here too. there is no way they are under 100mm. When you go over them at the posted 30 limit it is like you are Knight Rider! I've written to my local council about the bumps, they wrote back saying they were overwhelmed by people asking for MORE bumps. See thi...

I'd love to, but too late to ask for a holiday. I'm going to try to get a shift swap. Arranging a meeting for 3pm is a sure fire way to ensure only the busybody types can actually go. Most residents are at work, therefor they will of course all agree. As usual there has been no publicity for this me...

DAVE There was consultation with the Community Council and with residents who live where the speed cushions were proposed at the design stage. The leagal adverts were placed in the Glenrothes Gazette and notices were...

The problem in our case is that Fife council has gone berserk with these bumps in the last couple of years. I do a fairly high mileage and have to constantly cross the things. While I was in the MoT station, the tester told me that bumps were without question causing all kinds of problems.. he had s...

The problem I have with them is that they are literally now EVERYWHERE in fife... not just outside schools etc.. so on a daily drive you are constantly crossing the things. There have been several petitions against them that the council have just ignored, saying if they cause discomfort or damage to...

These things are now dotted all over Fife, where I live. 3000 miles ago I had new tyres put on my girlfriends car, the bumps have thrown the tracking out so far that they are now through to the canvas on the inside. She was completely unaware of this, believing her tyres to be nearly new. I put my c...

Its a 715iS .... I know not a great unit but I was interested in seeing whether the things worked before laying out £300 plus.

I can easily sell it again on eBay.

Looks like there's no real way of detecting the mobile scameravans then :(

Bought a Snooper unit from eBay the other day, since the talivans in Fife are now getting to saturation point. Was warned that they trigger a fair few false alarms in town , so opted only to use it on main roads... On the way to work it stayed silent, apart from going mad at the temporary traffic li...
