I would prefer a more open attitude to legal speed limits for roads. I would prefer a specific speed sign that implied "this road is 40 and protected by a working speed camera with the ability to identify your number plate - if you break the speed limit the owner of the car will be fined unless it w...

Why isn't every speed camera switched on. Why isn't every speed camera digital, so they never run out of film. That's what I'd do if I was trying to make money. The government must be trying to scare drivers into slowing down, backing up the threats with real fines and points on the licence. If ever...

Motorways are crowded. The M25 is being widened to 4 lanes to deal with the problem. Where is everyone going, can public transport help? Would using the railways instead of the motorways help reduce the numbers of lorries crawling along the slow and middle lanes? Are lorries on the motorways because...

If you're driving in the East of England, then this official website will show you where the cameras are.

What happens when the car behind hasn't got brakes as good as a Merc. Another clever idea. Use the rear parking sensors to measure the distance of the car behind, then if the car was too close, flash a different rear red light saying "Too close" . To stop false alarms it could be disabled at slower ...

GPS camera detectors have defeated the plague of fixed safety cameras. Detectors in the road, number plate readers, whatever the clever clogs think up, GPS defeats.
Mobile speed camera locations can be detected too. GPS speed camera detectors should be added to a car before anything else. |

I read somewhere that a lot of deaths on the road (as opposed to accidents) occur at night. It seems that fatigue is responsible and not speeding. Basically people fall asleep at the wheel and career off the road.

When learning to drive, I was taught that the speed limit for dual-lane highway is 70 miles per hour. That there's no need for speed signs because dual-lane highways are 70 miles by default. However, speeds for these roads are being reduced, and then enforced with speed cameras. For example, the A1 ...

Only a fool breaks the 2 second rule was a government advert from long ago. Is the biggest cause of accidents not allowing enough time to react? Also, a 2 second gap on the motorway was OK back in the days when there were less cars than today. To fit all the cars on the motorway, the gap would have ...
