Absolutely disgraceful. There is so much wrong with this that I almost don't know where to start. Having a child run out in front of your car is genuinely terrifying. It has happened to me and I had to pull over for quite a while and regain some sort of concentration again. It can leave you really s...

The added problem with this subject especially is that any issue surrounding children is an inherently emotive one. Whenever children are brought into a debate, certain people suddenly lose the ability to say rational things and insist that anybody who disagrees with them actively supports the harmi...

I am curious to know how it would deal with those roads with varying speed limits. For example, there is a school near where I live and the road directly next to it is 30mph during most times of the day, but 20mph "when the lights are flashing". Can this thing read road signs or detect fla...

I'm reminded of the scene in Lead Balloon in which Jack Dee's character, convinced that his postman is noisey enough in the morning to wake him up, is so desperate to catch him in the act that he sets his alarm so he can get up early enough to listen intently when the postman arrives.

I always find it funny when somebody related to the industry gets caught; suddenly speed cameras are GREAT! (although IIRC he was actually stopped by a following police car). Not entirely sure what you mean here. Do you mean that those who would normally oppose the use of speed cameras temporarily ...

You have to question the motives of somebody who makes a living from a device which is based on a premise they don't acknowledge or believe. I would like to say that he should be treated the same as everybody else, but that's not true. Somebody in his position should be made an example of. He could ...

Before we continue this hideously familiar argument, I would like stevegarrod to answer these questions: 1. Do you believe that exceeding the speed limit is inherently dangerous? 2. When you talk about "speeding" and "excessive speed", are you referring to exceeding the speed lim...

I have also seen it mentioned that the blanket reduction of speed limits will accompany other measures such as improved standards in driving tests and better engineering. Would it be unfair to suggest that the anti-rationale campaigners will use improvements brought about by these things to justify ...

Just read about this on the BBC website. I am almost lost for words, this is amazing. I can't believe anybody could think like this way. Potholes are dangerous for cars, bicycles, motorcycles, and pedestrians and I fail to see any case for opposing their repair. Potholes cause big problems for cars ...

I take it that Germany is in Recession too ? There is a most interesting scientific article that I have been (not read yet as been on the road traveling), sent that the writer has spoken at length to me about that shows how during recession times fatal accidents stats always go DOWN. This is due to...

My tyre completely blew out yesterday on the 6006. Front driver's side tyre was done for, but as it was on the inside of the tyre and completely out of side even if you got under there, I had no idea. Was driving along and in half a second it had no air in it. Asked a mechanic and he said there's so...

How on earth can one person's actions be deemed acceptable simply on the basis that at that time those observing could do nothing about it? The ability for an act or object to "unacceptable" depends on whether it is possible to reject it. If you have no power to reject it, it is impossibl...

Yet it's futile. It would do just as much good to grumble about the rain or the wind! Drivers (like the weather) are what they are, and grumbling makes no odds. But we do grumble about rain and wind an other things like politicians which we cannot change. Grumbling relieves the stress so it is far ...

I was on the A6006 in North Leicestershire in rush hour a few weeks ago heading towards towards the A46. The 6006 isn't a fantastic road, but between the villages it's NSL and you can comfortably do 60 for long stretches. A couple of miles before the turning on to the A46 slip road, I became stuck b...
