They should only ever target a vehicle that has no others around it, and you state you are in a set of three, and although they have you in sight there is clearly a fairly close following vehicle which is not 'following the best practice guidelines' for camera targeting. Obviously got a great zoom ...

Got the images back from the Police - unfortunatly it is clearly me, in my car, not obscured, and still in the 30mph zone (taken all identifying marks out, as Northamptonshire Police own copyright to this image): http://www.eciti.co.uk/assets/images/audi/audi.jpg Was going to take a photo of the loc...

Thanks for the advice it was noted - I don't think I have given any more detail than my name may be "Paul", the offence occurred in Northamptonshire, and a template letter freely available from pepipoo.com - Northants Police deal with over 3,000 speeding offences a month, and probably more...

Apparently they don't provide calibration information on request as all equipment has self-diagnostic checks and certificates can be found here: http://www.northants.police.uk/default.aspx?id=9780 Seems I "have" to admit guilt by filling in and returning the NIP form. So I can't see any ev...

Ah right, probably just have to grin and bear it then...

Your understanding is right - I was surprised too, as the vehicle behind was quite close to me. It must have got me a fair distance away as the road goes up a slight gradient. Probably easier to describe once I have the photographic evidence.

Hi all - after 5 years I'm back again! Got a NIP from a mobile unit - knew it was there, travelled past it doing 30mph inbetween two other vehicles, carried on... About a week later got the letter from the "Safer roads team", so I can only imagine he got me just as I was accelerating for t...

As you come round the bend at the legal limit - you have a matter of seconds to observe the signs and make a judgement, to which I did - adjusting my speed down to 40mph. So you did see the sign on the left then, your claim was that you couldn't see it had a :30: in it, rather than a :40: ? I never...

At 60mph, that gives roughly one second to view the signs and make a decision (based on 60mph = 26.8224 meters per second). Sorry, slight aside, but you say you know were coming around the corner at a speed that in no way would you have been able to stop had there been something in the road? Sorry ...

As far as I am concerned, I know it to be fact that the photographs were taken the day after the event. I know for a fact that willow trees would not grow that much in less than 24 hours. I have travelled on that road since and know how soon after the bend the signs are situated (around 25 meters). ...

I achieved what I wanted to achieve, tested the system Or wasted tax payers money? Did you really not see any indication the limit was a 30 limit at the time? If you didn't you were right to challenge. If you did thanks for wasting all that time and money! I didn't see the signs (due to the obstruc...

My deepest sympathies to Paul's family and friends.

Though I never knew Paul personally, the forum was invaluable to me in my time of need - and I am sure it will live on as his legacy.

Rest in peace.

Hi all Just to let you all know, this case is now closed - I was found guilty. Three points and £400 fine (inc costs). Thank you all for your help and advice, it really helped me to talk confidently in court about this - in the end though, the court found that the unobscured sign along with street l...

I can catagorically say that I did not tamper with the photographs, or take them from obscure angles - and they were taken on the 18th May 2007 (the following day). I find it truely disturbing that a police officer who is supposed to be a trusted member of the community can lie in a written statemen...

It was a roadside stop on the 17th May with a hand-held device, I went back and took pictures the following day. I don't think they would have grown too much in that time

To be honest, it is a pretty wide road - don't know if that works in my favour or not...

Thanks for your advice - I will try to get my point across and not get too nervous in court! I guess the best way is to prepare, and take printouts of everything... Trial date has been set for 20th November, I'll keep you posted :D What a waste of taxpayers money, would be better spent by the counci...

I need to check whether the street lighting system is compliant, as stated before - there are a number of phosphorus lamps bolted to telephone poles, sporadically placed. The signs do not have any lighting, and I'm sure they are 200+ meters before the first "street lamp". Its a non-princip...

Yeah very much so  The sign is still illegal, a written statement from the police officer read out in court yesterday basically said "any photographic evidence from the defendent could not be trusted". Also stated that he checked the signs and they were visible. I've never met the man...

Ok, before anyone calls me lazy - I've searched the forum and found a number of similar cases... Do printouts of similar cases reported on BBC, Telegraph, etc, web sites stand in court as evidence - or is there a special place where I can get actual court account of the resolution? Or should ...
