Any tail gaiting legislation/enforcement must also address the morons who drive constantly in the lane of their choice with no regard for lane discipline. If lane discipline were enforced there would be precious little tailgating. Well said. Please can we do something about dickheads who sit in the...

I have to agree, not all coppers are bad. My friend in the post above had a set of alloys nicked off his car right outside his house only a few months back. When he was talking to the forrensics team that showed to check his car, even they were slanging the Traffic unit. There are many police office...

As the ruling states, you have to stop for an office (in uniform). It is an offence not to stop when requested. However, the officer must have a valid reason for stopping a motorist!

I've just read the following article posted on http://www.onethirdlie.org.uk website. www.telegraph.co.uk It's an article about an old guy who was working as a marshal at a local car boot sale. Police were operating a manual Speed Check site about 300yrds down the road from when the man was. So he, ...

Admitadly, if they have done you with a hand-held device then you could be screwed. I hope these will ultimately be subject to the same scrutiny as all saftey camera locations. On the note of dealing with ignorant pigs though, it's getting to the point where you have to know as much if not more abou...

Personally, I think this kind of scheme must have greater transparency! Use of radar devices is highly skilled - not so much in terms of operating the device, but appropriate site selection. Radar devices can be affected by a number of environmental and positioning factors. So my first question woul...

This has caused me to remember an incident I wittnessed aout 4 years ago. (Not entirely related to the thread but bare with me...) I was waiting for a lift one evening a few years back in the middle of town. I was stood on the pavement at the site of a road. The carriageway of the side I was on (wes...

I was driving home on the A1 past the Angel of the North last night. This stretch of road is dual carriageway and has a 70 speed limit but we rarely got above 40!!! There were no accidents on this stretch at the time and the queues went from near the Durham border well past where I turned of just no...

i listened to an article n the radio last night about this. It's worth noting that the manufacturer/inventor only claims that it reduces the likelyhood of people driving under the influence of alcohol. This will have been found through a study on a sample of people. There were calls by some yesterda...

What will happen is that they will monitor accidents over a period of 6 months - 2 years. Then, using the highly scientific methods of conjecture, make-believe and supposition, they'll argue that 99.9% of new motorway accidents were caused by the increased speed limit, and put it down to 60mph.

On a more serious note, Durham is one of the police forces in the UK that actually has a competant Road Safety s... |

I've heard of similar offences such as "Driving without a brain" and "Drivin whilst under the influence of stupidity".
For the more non PC, also "Driving in posession of ovaries/testicles" (delete where appropriate). |

I belive Volvo have done quite a bit of research into this. They have looked into ways of reducing the immpact of pillars in terms of obscuring a drivers' vision. They have actually produced a conept car which has small glass panels in the pillrs to allow the driver more vision. However, these innov...

I think another element of this applies to any kind of drug. The mentality of some is to claim they're not affected by drigs. For example, when you're 18 and claim to be able to take and colume of alcohol. People's ignorance is factor that cannot be under-estimated. While the packaging may warn of t...

One argument I've heard is that they need to cover their expenses. Although accoring to figures las year they it cost £54m to run SCP's and they grossed £60+. I'd love to now what's happening to the extra cash.
Perhaps they're p*ssing it up against a wall by investigating tailgatign cameras?!? |

Accoring to the ACPO guidelines (http://www.acpo.police.uk), if the site is un-supervised, the central ticket office should have checked the 2-stage photographs and verified the speed before sending the NIP out. (They can do this using the white lines painted on the road). I would suggest sticking o...
