Winding all the way back to the original topic of the Cinema/TV advert, am I alone in feeling very uncomfortable at the implied message that 'if you hit me at 30mph or less, I will just get up and walk away' whereas the reality is that the little girl will probably be seriously injured, mentally tra...

Are you aware of the conditions under which legally licenced handguns had to be kept, prior to the ban? Precisely. Locked safe or gun cabinet, regular police inspection and so on. A study by the Metropolitan Police of 657 armed robberies in the London area from January 1988 to June 1991 found that ...

Gary Hart would not have been gaoled if he had simply ended up in a field and he shouldnt have been gaoled simply because he was unlucky enough to land on a railway line. The Gary Hart conviction has always looked dodgy. Yes he was culpable for DWDCA for driving when he had had little sleep, but he...

How does it? There is a proliferation of illegal weapons which has not been addressed by the ban. If you know where to go there are pubs in most major cities where you can get a pistol for about £250, no questions asked. Please explain what the ban on legal guns has done to address that.

The figures I gave were for Total Legislation. If you take the figures for Primary Legislation for the same two periods, they are 934 and 944 respectively, so not much variation. Any legal folk on here who can explain the difference?

This may have been mentioned before, but a colleague told me of an elctrician he employed who lived near Wrexham and while on holiday in Devon, had his car stolen, with SatNav in it. On returning home in a hire car, the house had been cleaned out. Various people have been suggesting not putting a to...

"Silly" is no the problem - sadly, this thread proves that their are people who approve of legislation others think "silly" (that includes me, but I won't say which ;) ). To me the problem is unnecessary and/or ineffective legislation and regulation. Motoring is full of both. Fo...

I find it hard to believe anyone would think banning hand guns is silly. Last year the uk had 58 murders using firearms. Not bad! So despite the ban, 58 people were murdered with guns. Those will be the easily available illegal ones then... Governments think that when you ban somthing the problem g...

Deliberately provocative? Surely not... I think most of the Hay-on-Wye coverage was on Sky ('Hay on Sky') Perhaps as you say that number of hours of Glastonbury or Snooker is too much, but then how much is too much? If I was passionate about snooker which I am not, I might be more than happy. I thin...

For my part, I just look at their recent output. Endless visits to the Hay on Wye Literary Festival to listen to droning bores; wall to wall coverage of Glastonbury mud. Depends if you like or don't like things literary and/or Glastonbury. So the BBC is biased because it puts out programmes on subj...
