Average speed scameras turned on today. listening to the early evening news tonight, TV presenter Nick Owen asked the pro-speed Council guy "but since the old cameras were turned off the incidents went down down from 20 to 7" (That was around the figure IIRC). The stupid political hidden-a...

I'm sad :-( In the past month I have : - Walked to a pub miles away in my Chris Brashers because the weather has been lovely. (A pedestrian) Cycled, goodness knows how many miles, to enjoy our countryside which I couldn't do on foot tbh. (A cyclist) Rode my motorbike to a wedding in Hereford, an RC ...

Sounds like an extension to the fake Cop cardboard statue one sees in shop fronts which, allegedly, work to deter theives. Of course, there's no drawback or potential risk from putting one in a shop front, unlike on our highway. Those very same 'speed kills' fanatics would gladly have land mines in ...

You’re right of course Dave, sadly. I remember HGV drivers in France kicked-off big time over the price of fuel. We in England then attempted a poor imitation. It made local news with interviews from a few disgruntled drivers - then they went back to work. That was years ago now but I’ve got the gis...

Just in case anyone thought it's just GB or Safe Speed...

May sound like it is just a biker issue, but go to the link and it could have come from any number of posts/posters/protestors on SS and more! (Which is why I posted it here if okay?).

Wouldn’t a simple FOI request put this matter to bed?

I’ve never requested one myself and I’m not sure how it would best be worded. But we are allowed to know what the Police know and have on record, are we not?

I'm seeing it in many areas now Dave. As I say, the traffic is so heavy you'd be doing well to get through it quicker than a cyclist. So the :20: is yet another PC figleaf gesture from some moron desperate to get a pat on the back because him mommy didn't love him as a child and justify his overpaid...

In my job, I cannot install a single thing which is not 'Medically Approved'. In other words, how can you trust a tyre inflation gauge and what is the acceptable error? I PAT test equipment, to 'prove it's safe'. (Not). More arse covering... It's more to do with litigation and "being seen to do...

Yes, happy Christmas to all and here’s to a peaceful new year. (Fat chance with so many fanatical terrorists out there though sadly). I used to feel when I was on familiar territory I could concentrate on the roads more, because I know all the limits for wherever I may go. But it’s become more frequ...

It’s like all tests, a snapshot of your ability on the day which may be completely unrepresentative of how good or bad you really are. I was always told that once you pass your test you don’t really start to learn until afterwards, in the real world. Makes sense to me. I was a complete dork for a lo...

are that the HGVs you see are way too big for our roads. You know what, the "it should be legal to break the speed limit" lot often assert that the "people shouldn't break speed limits" lot want to see people in cars have to have a man with a red flag walking in front of them. O...

Very sad My point, or rather thoughts on the matter, are that the HGVs you see are way too big for our roads. I haven’t been to Belfast but, speaking for Birmingham, these things do not belong on anything other than a motorway IMO or, better still, banned from our roads! There’s a small village, if ...

I'd like to know how fast he was going and the speed limit. And then how may children/ pets/ kittens/ floppy rabbits he killed. And then , JUST how sending him a ticket in the meantime will reduce deaths on our roads. Well, if he was in a Bugatti doing 200mph in a :30: Dave..... I wa...

Yes, I read this today too CJG.

I have mixed feelings about him, so not sure I'm happy, sad or just indifferent about it.

I'd like to know how fast he was going and the speed limit.

I saw this some time ago. Not sure what the speed limit is there but, that aside, there’s no way on earth I would be going as fast as that looks in that situation at that point. (The old proverb “treat everyone else like an idiot”). The ‘body language’ of that car/driver would have had the hairs on ...

You could well be right Boxers but I don’t recall seeing/hearing this anywhere before, so took it as new. Perhaps more importantly, I’d like to know if it is still the case today that you are not obliged to sign it and, if left unsigned, is invalid...? It stands to reason that it wouldn’t be worth t...

This is an eye opener... Magistrates' courts could grind to a halt if thousands of motorists exploit a legal loophole unwittingly exposed by a Welsh driver. Magistrates had no choice but to find Phillip Dennis, of Whitford, Flintshire, not guilty of speeding when his case was heard on Thursday. He ...

Although one might think nice hot weather would make people happier, I think when it becomes repressive drivers get more cranky which in turn is reflected in their driving. I wonder if drivers in cars with A/C are less likely to be cranky or accident prone when it’s very hot. Just a thought... :)

It makes sense to wear something on the one part of your body which if hit will cause untold and sometimes permanent damage. I wouldn’t use a hot climate as a reason not to wear one because I need something covering my bald head anyway. The vents on a cycle helmet are pretty good; some better than o...
