Have read the post from start to finish, have understood your arguement but in all my years driving (28) have never encountered the situation you speak of. I am a both a biker and a 'cager'. When on my bike I always make good progress, but never harry or hurry other drivers, I accept situations wher...

I failed to renew my Car Tax at the end of October last year! I hold my hands up, fair cop, there was a lot going on in my life at that time. Anyway I received a penalty from DVLA on the 7th of Jan, this was a bit of a shock at the time because I hadn't noticed the long since expired disc on my car....

Just did the conversion to imperial and 37miles per US gallon = 44.43 miles per Imperial Gallon and 29 US = 34 UK.

Ok it's better, but nothing to write home about. The reason the Accord interested me is because I've got one; I would expect not much worse from mine.

Is it the most self-indulgent car ever built, or the least? What happens when you add hybrid technology to one of America's best-loved vehicles? You get performance and fuel efficiency in a very stylish and dependable package. The revolutionary new Accord Hybrid is a 255-hp, V-6 rocket that gives y...

Safe Speed is a serious road safety campaign. After over 5,000 of research analysing and understanding how road safety works, we're certain that present policy is making the roads more dangerous. Start with the 'understanding' menu above if you're new to Safe Speed. Just a small Typo It's good but ...

Buy Tax Disc online! how come I haven't heard of this before! No more standing in the post office with the aroma of stale wee, surely not. Great news  Max It is actually one of the few good IT projects that this Govt has done. The website address is http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehiclelicence I used...

Thanks for the replies and yes the job is exempt. As I said earlier even if they do appear on the CRB check, I don't expect it to influence the job offer. I was just wondering whether they would indeed appear on the CRB check. Interesting what you say about the USA Visa though!

I was considering this very issue the other day whilst applying for a Job. Part of the application process is a Criminal Records Bureau search. Now whilst the outcome shouldn't affect my application it got me wondering about whether my driving convictions would come up on it? Does anyone know? Offen...

It was all to do with helping to identify the driver I believe, and in the big picture bike speeding is by proportion a small 'speeding' problem. But as a biker myself it's a welcome by-product. There are bikers who will 'salute' the camera or worse as they blast past them, but I prefer not to be fl...

Paul,

Have you thought of applying for lottery funding? I don't know what the criteria is but I'm fairly sure you could justify it.

The bit I liked was Please can you carefully review your operational case and ensure that any statistics, data or information mentioned can be substantiated from a known data source and are suitably referenced. Seems the DfT are wising up and are preparing to distance themselves from the unsubstanti...

Thanks IanH for your post it pretty much restores my faith in the police. :D I only wish I had of had the presence of mind to explain myself when I was stopped under similar circumstances. Only the officer was by the side of the road and had no time to observe my driving. I was doing 93 on a dual ca...

Fear and distrust of monitoring baulks me! Trouble is that these monitoring systems using the most advanced gadgetry in the world are run by people! I gree you can't turn back time but you can fight it tooth and nail every step of the way

For example, we seem to agree (I say 'seem' because I'm seldom sure of what is agreed upon in here  ) that tailgating another vehicle is dangerous and unecessary yet, if tailgating cameras were introduced tomorrow and fines starting plopping onto doormats a few days later, there would be anot...

A warning system would be much better. Yeah, I agree. I'm sure a system could be developed that illuminated a warning light if the vehicle it is fitted to gets too close to the vehicle in front for the speed at which it is travelling. Like the one Jaguar have already developed? http://www.jaguar.co...

Have a look at http://www.cumbria.police.uk/index_767.htm enter "safety cameras" and then search. The second of the 'sponsored links' comes up with: Resist Safety Cameras - http://www.finebuster.co.uk/ How to get off speed fines. Last few at this price - £17.95 aff. It made me chuckle  I wonder...

Whilst there is more awareness of the dangers of driving whilst tired, I am fairly sure there will still be people driving now, acting as irresponsibly as I was then. Max You are right Max, unfortunately some are not driving now. Was involved with one on the motorway last year. The driver fe...
