The hull figures are highly suspect; for one, I don't think they've taken into account any confounding factors. Such as traffic avoiding the route altogether because of suspension damaging humps, but also, more importantly, whole estates have been virtually shut off to through traffic so the acciden...

Bulb failure warning systems are good, but increasingly of late, bulb replacement is a garage only task. :x

Gun crime and deaths were falling in the UK, but have risen recently mostly due to our changing population and incoming cultures which are more pre disposed to using firearms. I used the USA as an extreme example of what happens when gun laws are to lax. We are I believe one of the lowest in europe...

I find it hard to believe anyone would think banning hand guns is silly. Last year the uk had 58 murders using firearms. Not bad! Very good compared to America which had 1,400, well by that I mean 1,400 lethal firearm accidents of which 181 were children under 14. Really? And how many " firear...

Oh, I wasn't implying britain was exclusively anal, but I bet it is fairly towards the top of the european hirachy of 'anality'.

My point was more of an enforcement one, and the attitudes surrounding it. Brits can't be trusted with sensible enforcement.

The 40 mph limit on the A56 Walton Bypass, Warrington. The 50 mph limit on the A34 Handforth/Wilmslow bypass. The 50 mph limit on the A666 Farnworth bypass. The 30 mph limit on the A6104 Victoria Avenue East, Manchester. (obviously I could go on in this vein all night) The inexorable spread of doub...

At a speedometer indicated reading of 75mph my true speed according to GPS is 70 mph.

I agree with the opinion you are unlikely to be prosecuted.

At an indicated 85 my true speed is still under 79 mph, which is the prosecution threshold (10% plus 2 mph) in this instance.

I am so shocked and upset to hear this tragic news; road safety has suffered a major setback.

My heart goes out to Claire and friends/family of Paul. This is terrible and unexpected - I can empathise with what you must be going through.

RIP Paul

Anyway, I'm of the view that some degree of regulation and censorship is necessary to protect society from the excesses of the media makers. Censorship is a very intersesting topic and one that always stimulates lively debate. I really don't think a video of irresponsible riding is likely to deprav...

The UK based ones could exercise an element of self-regulation though. The videos they are hosting serve no useful purpose to society, claiming that they are merely depicting what is going on in the real world is simply self-serving clucking noises. Disagree. They already self-regulate. I don't rea...

Thanks - so it doesn't really apply to white van man as some of the more sensational headlines would have you beleive.

Ok - stupid question here: what does a goods vehicle over 3.5 tonnes look like? A small lorry or a big transit van?

Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Can I add people who straddle two lanes 800 yards before they merge to stop people "jumping the queue"? Spot on! These people are often oblivious to the 'merge in turn' sign or the 'use both lanes when queuing' sign or choose to ignore it. Also: civillian road users who con...

The highway code states other road users should give way to the bus, however it doesn't state that buses have priority over other road users. Unfortunately, a large minority of bus drivers seem to have interpreted this as the case; that they have priority - this is quite clearly dangerous.

Its a shame he didn't put up more of a fight to the charge of perverting the course of justice, as it seems to be a fairly subjective law open to interpretation.
