Haven't seen it - but might be a 'tell' if the type/model of locked up car if fitted with ABS as standard...then def. a bit of jiggery-pokery.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/04102006/325/pay-drive-insurance-hits-roads.html I know it's old news - but the claims are just perfect!! "Driving during a morning weekday rush hour is 50 percent more likely to result in an accident than driving at weekends or in the evening, while serious accidents a...

In most everyday cars, 35-40 mph is a comfortable speed in 4th gear. Therefore many drivers are happy to amble along at that kind of speed - it's the path of least resistance  Huh? I'm in 5th at 30 and above (and 6th at 40+ in the other car). The last time I drove around at 35/40 in 4th was i...

Now did you perform a risk assesment, check the COSHH data for newsprint in 'cutting form', use safety scissors approved by the DTI, ISO and BS, wear suitable PPE, not run whilst handling them and dispose of the excess clippings in...

Jaywalking legioslation exists in other countries in workable forms, I can't see why we can't have it. Honestly, do you want your journey screwed up MORE because let's face it, in the UK the idiotic 'peds' press the buttons as they walk past them - even if they have no intention of using it. Imagin...

I don't have access to a video camera - but wouldn't it show up the IR lights on the cameras as big white blobs on screen if there is indeed power to the SPECS? Looking through the display of any digital camera should show it up. (Including mobile phone cameras) Or at least my mobile phone camera c...

Passed by this section a few times in the last couple of days.....and something caught my eye. On the East bound carriageway (Perth >>> Dundee) the inside lane camera at the FIRST set of SPECS has NOT been connected up...or certainly the engineer FUBAR'd the installation. How do I recon this? Well t...

Concern has increased over the behaviour of cyclists because of the rising number of bicycles on the roads in London. First they hike up fuel costs, then the congestion charge to keep people OUT of their cars, bombings & shooting inncocent people in the head....now wanting to catch cyclists bum...

Do the Yanks have dirtier petrol? Quite possibly! (All of the following is based on personal experience.) They have less refined products at the pump, with much lower octane levels - akin to the old 2 star that cheapskates used to buy!! 'premium' is just our normal 4 star. Our 'super unleaded' 98 i...

Oh I understand that Paul. Was just thinking that it was quite ingenious to apply the over-read to the speedo only - leaving the odometer / trip computer to read true. After all, who wants to buy / sell a car that say's it has 10% more miles on it than it's really done as a safety margin!

So to measure your speed from the end of one to the start of the next the monitored section would (presumably) be part lower limit, part NSL and part lower limit again. As such they couldn't nick you for an average over the section, as they wouldn't be able to specifically state which of the three ...

The A92 perth to dundee road had recently had two LONG stretches of road controlled with :40: SPECS units. We all understand the importance of maintaining a nice average speed between the start & end cameras. Q1. As the ANPR computer logs the Reg. against a time index within the sections - what ...

I'm guessing that 'low jerk' has to do with the acceleration curve & related lift-off. eg. Rapid acceleration (high g) then lifting completely results in the passenger being throw back into the seat & then slung slightly forward. As opposed to a gentler acceration to 'ease' the pasenger into...

One thing I have found (repeatedly) is that the "10% discount" for online policies works a charm. I HATE booking it online without a human in the way to run over the fine print & ask about little things not specifically mentioned in the forms. Just get your quote ref. no. and phone them, you'll ...

I have several driving 'modes' depending on the passengers carried. If just me & the missus I can pretty much do anything except powerslides (or crashing) & she's happy enough as she trusts my judgement. If she feels nervous, (narrow country lanes) she'll say. With some of my friends I can '...

This is ridiculous. If he had chosen to drive at 130mph deliberately, why on earth would he phone the police himself during the crime and tell them where he was?... Simple. You can get away with it..... A free full throttle blast down any highway - kill people in collisions, just let them know you'...
